Garnsey Mural Conservation Project
This summer, Gallery 203 will be closed to visitors as a team of conservators restore a unique component of the Museum’s Main Building—a series of ornate murals painted by Elmer E. Garnsey (1862–1946). Track the progress of the conservation project through virtual programs, photography, videos, and expert insights.
Conserving the Mississippi Panorama
During the summer of 2019, visitors to the Saint Louis Art Museum were invited to experience something out of the ordinary. In Sculpture Hall, art conservators treated a work from our collection, Panorama of the Monumental Grandeur of the Mississippi Valley. During this process, Museum visitors had the unique opportunity to observe and interact with the conservation team while they worked.
