NOTES
This work consists of wire and nails creating the shape of an asymmetrical octagon. The wire casts a shadow on the wall, a two-dimensional “drawing” deriving from the interaction between the object and its surrounding light. Richard Tuttle has explained, “Though the small nails pin the wire to the wall, the rhythmic shadow frees them.” Before the wire is fixed to the wall, it has no form or shape; only through installation does the artist’s concept become visible.
